FACE Program
What is the FACE Program?
The Family and Child Education (FACE) program is a family literacy program designed for families that have children ranging in age from birth to 5 years. T'iis Ts'ozi Bi'Olta' FACE program has been in operation for 30 years and offers home-based, center-based, and adult education opportunities.
WHAT FACE OFFERS:
- Parents learn how to read to their child.
- All enrolled children receive free books every month.
- Adults set goals and work towards them.
- Child development information.
- Native language and culture.
- Support and encouragement.
- Fun activities for all family members.
- Incentives for participation.
Home-Based:
The home-based program is for families with infants ages birth to 3 years of age. Expectant mothers may also enroll. Lessons are designed to meet the needs of the family. Parents completing school may participate in adult learning, and Family Circle is offered monthly.
Activities include:
- Weekly or bi-weekly scheduled one-hour personalized visits in the home.
- Child development information.
- Transition from home-based to center-based preschool at 33 months of age.
- Parents/guardians learn to be their child’s first teacher, and children learn by playing with their parents/guardians.
- Parents/guardians learn to set goals for themselves and families.
- Parents/guardians may seek school completion through adult education program.
- Screening is done to see if the children are meeting developmental milestones.
Center-Based:
The center-based program provides preschool and adult learning services for families with children ages 3 and 4 years old. Parents/guardians learn to set goals for themselves, receive parenting education and help their child(ren) with school readiness.
This program includes:
- Creative Curriculum, which is researched-based and used for school readiness with the preschool children.
- Attendance in a nationally accredited preschool (NAEYC).
- Adults work towards their goals as employees, community members, and parents.
- Parents/guardians learn about the importance of how their child(ren) learn through play. This is done daily at PACT Time (Parent & Child Together Time).
- Parents/guardians get education on topics related to their role.
- Active learning is done throughout the daily schedule for adults and children.
- Seamless transition from preschool to kindergarten.
- Parents/guardians learn to read to their child(ren).
- Screenings are done to ensure each child is meeting developmental milestones and school readiness.
- Fun activities for special occasions.
Enrollment Requirements:
- Complete enrollment for adult and child. (Applications for the FACE program can be picked up at Crownpoint Community School.)
- Copy of Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB) for both guardian and child.
- Copy of Birth Certificate for adult and child.
- Physical for preschool child(ren).
- Updated immunization record.
- Other required documents for both center-based and home-based.

Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Home-Based Hours
Monday to Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
